On July 8, Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) held an online admissions information session targeted at prospective students interested in studying sciences. Domestic applications to GDP are divided into two groups; namely, sciences and humanities, and the Program is actively recruiting applicants who wish to pursue studies in scientific fields. This year, 30 participants including high school students, parents, and high school teachers attended in the event.

Program faculty kicked off the session by talking about the unique aspects of GDP and elaborating on its admissions process, after which they introduced the study and research opportunities available to students interested in sciences. Then, current GDP students spoke about their experiences. The event ended on a high note, with participants being divided into small groups for a Q&A session with Program faculty and current students. This gave participants an opportunity to get a better grasp on the Program’s course content and unique curriculum, as well as the kind of research activities that connect seamlessly with graduate studies.　

GDP was established in October 2017 as a faculty where international students from all over the world, returnees, and graduates from high schools in Japan can come together to study subjects from a wide variety of fields while sharing their diverse cultures and experiences. The program aims to nurture students who are active on the global stage by encouraging them to design a unique program of study that is not restricted by department or faculty.

Also, GDP actively recruits students who would like to pursue their studies in scientific fields. In the Discovery admission, the program has allocated a special quota for applicants who specialize in science in secondary education.
