On August 13, members of the Okayama University weight training club competed in the “58th Kansai Student Bodybuilding Championship and the 4th Kansai Student Men's Physique Championship” held at Kondo Giken Kogyo Nishiyodogawa Kumin Hall (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture).

While bodybuilding is evaluated based on the total muscle mass of the entire body, physique is evaluated based on the muscle balance of the upper body, and hair, pants, posing, etc. are also subject to evaluation.

This competition was positioned as a Kansai regional qualifier for the All-Japan Student Championships to be held on September 23. 19 students from 10 universities participated in the Bodybuilding Championships, and 28 students from 11 universities participated in the Physique Championships, where they competed in a heated battle to qualify for the national championships.

6 students from the club competed in Physique and 2 in Bodybuilding, and in Physique, Mr. MARUO Tatsuya (4th year, School of Engineering) placed 3rd, Mr. OKAMOTO Takahiro (4th year, School of Engineering) placed 4th, Mr. MORIHIGASHI Yu (2nd year, School of Engineering) placed 5th, and Mr. HAMANO Hikaru (1st year, School of Engineering) placed 14th. 4 members of the club were selected to participate in the national competition!

After the results of this year's competition, Mr. Morihigashi said, "I felt that the competition was of a very high level. The number of participants was more than double that of last year, and the level of the players was also high. We competed in better conditions than last year, but our rankings were lower than last year's. I will make the most of my experience and reflection from this year's competition and do my best during the remaining time so that I can create better conditions for the national competition," he said, expressing his enthusiasm for the national competition.
