From September 22 to 24, AMABE Asuka (3rd year, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) of Okayama University's Archery Club participated in the 61st All-Japan Student Archery Individual Championships held at the Yume-no-shima Park Archery Field (Tokyo, Japan).
Her participation in this tournament was based on her first-place performance in the "52nd Chugoku-Shikoku Student Archery Individual Championship" held on June 25 at the Okayama City General Culture Archery Dojo. This was her second appearance in the national championships as she competed in the "21st All-Japan Indoor Archery Individual Championships" last year.
In the preliminary round of the national tournament, she placed 64th and was able to advance to the final round, which was her goal. In the final round, she unfortunately lost in the first round, but her performance on the national stage gave courage to her juniors.
Ms. Amabe said, "In the first half of the preliminary round, I was a bit anxious because I could not achieve the results I had hoped, but in the second half, I switched gears and improved my score, and I was very happy to advance in the preliminaries, which I could not achieve in the All-Japan Student Indoor Archery Individual Championships last year. I received advice from acquaintances from other universities at the venue, making this a very memorable tournament. I hope this result will be a positive inspiration for my juniors," she said.
AMABE Asuka, a member of the archery club, competed in the national tournament for the second time!
