On October 21, Okayama University hosted the "Okayama University Homecoming Day 2023" to bring alumni and former faculty members back to the university, get updates on the university's recent status, and foster interactions with fellow alumni, current students, international students, and faculty.
At the opening ceremony held at the main venue, the 50th Anniversary Hall, Okayama University Glee Club sang the Okayama University Song and more. Subsequently, President NASU Yasutomo delivered an opening address, and on behalf of the distinguished guests, KONAGA Keiichi, Chairman of the Okayama University Alumni Association, gave a congratulatory speech. Following the opening ceremony, Kanemitsu Achievement Award and Kanemitsu Encouragement Award were presented, and then Professor Jian Feng Ma from the Institute of Plant Science and Resources at Okayama University delivered a commemorative lecture as the recipient of the Kanemitsu Achievement Award, followed by a music festival and other welcome events organized by faculties and departments in the afternoon. Around the main venue, there were stalls run by alumni, students, faculty, staff, and food trucks coordinated by The World Kitchen Committee, making this the first lively Homecoming Day in four years since 2019.
