On November 19-25, Seven Okayama University students participated in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) in Erfurt, Germany, and they won an Honorable Mention Award. Representing Argentina and Italy, the students successfully debated international policies, gave speeches, and wrote resolutions with other delegates from around the world. There were over 50 universities and 12 countries participating.

Okayama University delegates were a diverse group of students:
- Dilyorakhon Azizbek (2nd-year, Discovery Program for Global Learners, Uzbekistan)
- Lin Thu Kha Htaik (3rd-year, Discovery Program for Global Learners, Myanmar)
- Nayuko Iden (2nd-year, Discovery Program for Global Learners; Institute of Global Human Resource Development, Japan)
- Ai Tanaka (2nd-year, Medical School; Institute of Global Human Resource Development, Japan)
- Kantaro Tsutsui (2nd-year, School of Letters; Institute of Global Human Resource Development, Japan)
- Bianca Walczak-Coelho (2nd-year, Discovery Program for Global Learners, Poland)
- Tomohiro Yamashita (2nd-year, School of Education; Institute of Global Human Resource Development, Japan)

The students had taken the Advanced English (MUN) class from Associate Professor Caleb Prichard and Professor Neil Cowie. At NMUN Germany, they were led by Associate Professor Prichard.

Mr. Yamashita, who represented Italy, reported, "At NMUN, I played the role of a diplomat, holding discussions and negotiations with other countries, and we worked towards an agreement on UN resolutions." He enthusiastically added, "It was a valuable experience that I would not have been able to have in my normal student life. It was very rewarding, when I realized I could demonstrate my full potential, including my English skills, communication skills, ability to take action, and international understanding. I want to use my NMUN experience to become a person who can be a leader in Japan."
