From November 1 to 6, the equestrian club participated in the "All Japan Student Equestrian Competition 2023, 66th All Japan Student Award Dressage Competition" held at Miki Horseland Park in Miki City, Hyogo Prefecture. In the competition, SOGABE Takuma (4th year, School of Education) ranked 29th in the JEF Dressage Competition Section 5A, while SAKAMOTO Masato (3rd year, Faculty of Law) won first place in the JEF Dressage Competition Section 3A!
In this tournament, equestrian clubs from universities across the country, which had won the district qualifiers, competed for victory in three categories: dressage, jumping, and overall equestrian events, riding their own horses. Mr. Sogabe and Mr. Sakamoto participated with their respective horses, named 'Kaiteki Z' and 'Ikezuki.' This competition held special significance as the retirement match for 'Kaiteki Z,' a horse that had supported the club for many years.
Following these remarkable results, Mr. Sakamoto expressed, "Thanks to the support from the coaches, club members, and the excellent performance by 'Ikezuki,' I was able to achieve the goal of winning. I will continue to dedicate myself to daily training and strive for even better results in the future!" Mr. Sogabe shared his joy, stating, "Since it was the retirement match for 'Kaiteki Z,' who has supported the equestrian club at Okayama University for many years, I wanted to respond with the best performance possible. I'm glad I could deliver my best performance to date."
The equestrian club members of Okayama University achieved excellent results at the national competition, which also served as a retirement match for their beloved horse!
