On the 18th of March, the Fukui Dormitory for International Students was opened for use. This Dormitory is aiming to support the international students, and is the second dormitory for international students.
This dormitory was partly funded by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and was created through the renovation of the University’s Staff Housing. The new dormitory has 21 rooms that include a bathroom and kitchen, a manager office, a common room, and so on. Located within a few minutes walking distance from the University, the dormitory will provide the international students a comfortable yet economical place to stay.
The opening ceremony of the dormitory was held in the same day. Okayama University President Chiba Kyozo, Executive Director (Education and Students) Sato Toyonobu, and Director of International Center Ohtsuka Aiji all together cut the ribbon. Dr. Chiba addressed the audience and explained that the university will endeavor to attract outstanding international students.
After that, participants took a tour of the brand new dormitory and were impressed by the well-equipped building.
