The annual “Reception for Okayama University International Students and Researchers” was held in Okayama City on December 1, 2010, with guests from international student support organizations and local companies invited. There were 276 attendees.
The reception which has been held for over 20 years is part of the ongoing effort by the university to ensure the lives of its international students and researchers are fulfilling through promoting mutual understanding and trust among these students and researchers, local people and university faculty.
A highpoint of the reception were the cultural performances. University faculty showed their talent by performing Japanese music such as “Sakura” with a Taisho harp, and the student members of the Traditional Japanese Martial Arts Club demonstrated their skills. In return, students from ten countries including China, India, Serbia and France introduced their respective traditional costumes and dances.
Okayama University will continue to deepen understanding between its international students, university faculty and the local community through such events.
