Clarivate Analytics listed Professor Jian-Feng Ma and Associate Professor Naoki Yamaji from Plant Stress Science Group, Institute of Plant Science and Resources, as recipients for the Highly Cited Researchers 2016 and an award ceremony was held on July 25 at the aforementioned facility. This is the second year in a row for the two to be selected. According to the Clarivate Analytics representative that is a rare occurrence.
Professor Ma and Associated Professor Yamaji study at the genetic level, the mechanism that plants use to acquire nutrients, divest poisonous metals of their toxicity, or accumulate poisonous metals. The contribution the two have made over the years from conducting global cutting edge research was recognized and it led to being awarded in the plant and animal science category.
Professor Ma stated, “I am honored to be selected two years in a row at a time when recipients from Japan are decreasing. I will continue with my research and do my best to be selected again next year“. Citation analysis is used to identify authors whose scientific and scholarly papers wield outsized influence globally.
