Professor Jian-Feng Ma and Associate Professor Naoki Yamaji from the Group of Plant Stress Physiology at the Institute of Plant Science and Resources (IPSR) have been named on the 2017 Clarivate Analytics (the former IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters) list of Highly Cited Researchers. Each year, Clarivate Analytics selects the world’s most impactful scientific researchers based on their citation analysis that identifies the most frequently cited researchers whose papers have supported, influenced, inspired and challenged other researchers around the globe. Professor Ma and Associate Professor Yamaji have been named “Highly Cited Researchers” for three consecutive years since 2015. The ceremony was held at the Institute on May 25 and the official certificate was presented by Executive Director and Vice President for Research Daiji Takeuchi with Senior Director of Clarivate Analytics Asako Watanabe in attendance.

Professor Ma and Associate Professor Yamaji have studied the mechanisms of nutrient uptake and detoxification/accumulation of toxic metals by plants at the gene level. Their inclusion in the list in the category of Plant & Animal Science reflects wide recognition of the findings of the world-leading research they have conducted over the years.
