Okayama University held the 2018 Six National University Joint Summer Program (from Aug. 18 to Sep. 1) in Bangkok, Thailand, which was sponsored by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) and the Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan (SixERS).
The program has been organized since 2015 as a key program in exchanges between AUN and Six National Universities in Japan (SUN) and a total of 29 students from Okayama University, Niigata University and Kanazawa University attended this year’s program. Participants visited international organizations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Bangkok Office, as well as local Japanese companies, to observe actual work sites overseas. They also listened to lectures delivered by faculty members of Chulalongkorn University and joined a Thai food tasting event, studying the actual status of ASEAN nations and Thai culture.

AUN is an international university association established in 1995 under a proposal submitted at the fourth ASEAN Summit that was held in 1992. The Consortium of Six National Universities in Japan (SixERS) signed a partnership agreement with the ASEAN UNIVERSITY NETWORK (AUN) in 2013. Since then, AUN has endeavored to revitalize the student exchange and globalization efforts of the SUN.
