Mr. Christophe Xerri, Director of the Division of Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Waste Technology, International Atomic Energy Agency visited Okayama University on August 9 to pay a courtesy call to President Hirofumi Makino.
Daiji Takeuchi, Executive Vice President for Research and other faculty members were also present. President Makino cited development of a cutting-edge radiotherapy of cancers and the approach to its international guideline based on an agreement of cooperation between Okayama University and IAEA as an example of achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) adopted by United Nations. Views were shared with exchanges and cooperation in achieving SDGs as their common goal.
Okayama University and IAEA had concluded an agreement on research and higher education in radioactive waste management in June 2015 and on research and higher education in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) in October 2016. Further enhancement of their relationship is expected in the future between the two institutions.
