On February 1, Professor Mitsunobu Kano, Vice Executive Director of Okayama University (in charge of SDGs promotion), delivered a lecture on the University’s SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) initiatives in the “SDGs Seminar in Okayama” held at the Okayama University Incubator by the Chugoku Head Office of the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation, Japan (SME SUPPORT, JAPAN).

The purpose of the seminar was to offer a better understanding of the SDGs campaign, which would have a significant impact on future corporate management, and help small- and medium-sized enterprises obtain some hints on how to strengthen their management through their SDGs efforts. The seminar was attended by about 30 people, including managers of small- and medium-sized businesses.

The seminar began with an introductory lecture on the importance of generating new ideas in line with the concept of SDGs, by Vice Executive Director Kano, the Chairperson of the SDGs Initiatives Planning Committee. The lecture was followed by a workshop with Masatoshi Fujii and Takahiro Nakashima as moderators. Mr. Fujii is a first-year student of the Master’s Course of the Okayama University Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering in Health Systems and a member of the University’s IR/IE Office, and Mr. Nakashima is a first-year student of the Master’s Course of the University’s Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The workshop used “THE SDGs Action Card Game X (cross),” a card game jointly developed by REBIRTH PROJECT Co., Ltd. and the “SDGs Global Youth Innovators” project organized by students of the Kanazawa Institute of Technology. The event was filled with excitement, where individual participants made presentations on their respective overall direction for resolving challenges in achieving SDGs, which they developed by using the card game while incorporating their companies’ resources.

The University’s SDGs Initiatives Planning Committee continue to promote SDGs, through collaborative projects to establish partnerships with international and local societies.
