On September 25, Okayama University held the academic year 2019 Autumn Graduation Ceremony at its 50th Anniversary Hall, where a total of 104 faculty and graduate school students started out on their life’s journey from the campus that they had developed a deep attachment to.
In the ceremony, President MAKINO Hirofumi granted graduation certificates to three representatives of faculties and graduate schools. President Makino delivered a speech in English, in which he presented his message to the graduates, saying, “You are graduating from Okayama University today, but your pursuit of knowledge will never end. Your ties with the University will continue throughout your life. There may come a time when you want new challenges. Okayama University will always welcome you back if you wish to return to study more.”
On behalf of the graduates, Made Ayu Hitapretiwi Suryadhi of the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science gave an address in reply, saying, “It is beyond my expectation what experience and knowledge I have gained while studying in Okayama University. The most valuable lesson that I will carry with me is how to keep on being “humble” and “appreciate” every little things in life, both good and “bad” and how to practice preserving patience.”
After the ceremony, the graduates, dressed in suits or the ceremonial attire of their respective countries, marked their farewells by taking commemorative photos with their friends, junior students, and families, and by visiting their professors to say goodbye.
