Entrance ceremony for 13th course students of the Okayama-Hue International Master’s Program was held

September 30, 2019

On September 13, an entrance ceremony was held for seven 13th course students of the Okayama-Hue International Master’s Program at Hue University, Vietnam.

The attendees included President MAKINO Hirofumi and FUNAHASHI Hiroaki, Dean of the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science, both representing Okayama University, Do Thi Xuan Dung, Hue University Vice President for International Cooperation, and Le Van An, Rector of Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, who celebrated the enrollment of new students in the program.
 
President Makino expressed his appreciation for all those related to the course, including Vice President Dung and encouraged the new students, saying, “I expect you to work hard as a participant of this well-established program that has produced approximately 100 graduates.” Vice President Dung said, “I hope that the exchange between Okayama University and Hue University will develop further in the coming years.” With the 12th course students, who are currently studying at Hue University, and many graduates from the course also gathering at the venue, the ceremony had a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end.

In the first year of the program, the Vietnamese students study at Hue University, receiving a specialized education in environmental and agricultural studies for one year, and Japanese language training for about six months offered by Hue University of Foreign Languages. Then, in the second year, they transfer to Okayama University as second-year graduate students to complete their Master’s degree. The total number of currently enrolled students and graduates of the program has exceeded 100 so far. Supported by local companies, this course has produced a large number of outstanding personnel.
