On September 4, President MAKINO Hirofumi received a courtesy call at Okayama University by a delegation from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of IPB University in Indonesia, including Dean Dr. Sri Nurdiati, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Purwantiningsih, and Vice Dean Dr. Hamim.
Besides President Makino, other Okayama University officials also attended the meeting, including Dean Prof. FUNAHASHI Hiroaki and Vice Dean Prof. GOTO Tanjuro from the Graduate School of Environmental and Life Science. The participants confirmed that the two universities would enhance their exchange activities through the implementation of the winter program; dispatch and acceptance of young teachers; and application of computer science, mathematics, statistics, and robotics to the environmental and agricultural life sciences. Since IPB University is promoting the SDGs under the President’s leadership, just like Okayama University, the visitors asked questions about Okayama University’s SDG-related initiatives and experiences. Prior to the courtesy call, Dr. Sri Nurdiati and Prof. Funahashi signed an MOU to strengthen their relationship, and the parties exchanged their opinions and went on a tour of related laboratories.
Okayama University and IPB University made a University-Level agreement of cooperation in June 2005. Hopefully, this visit will inspire more exchanges between the two universities.
