On February 22, Japan Alumni Reunion 2020 & Farewell for the Japanese Government Scholarship Students was co-organized by Okayama University, Embassy of Japan in Myanmar and Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) with approximately 120 people participated in Yangon, Myanmar. The main purpose of this event was to establish a network between participants and alumni who have studied in Japan as well as to encourage new government scholarship students going to Japan in April.
H.E. Mr. Ichiro Maruyama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Myanmar, delivered his address on his hope and encouragement towards both alumni and new students to play an active role bridging Myanmar and Japan. Dr. Kyaw Naing, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education in Myanmar, Dr. Myo Khin, President of MAJA and Chairperson of Okayama University International Alumni Association, Professor Tomoko Tanaka, Vice Director of Institute of Global Human Recourse Development, Okayama University, made speeches followed by an introduction of Dr. Tin Htut Aung’s research on archaeology that have been done during his doctoral course at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Okayama University. Then, a representative of the new students expressed her aspiration for her study in Japan from April and gratitude for this opportunity.
Information exchange session became a great occasion to establish and strengthen a network among participants and also to further implement Study in Japan activity in Myanmar.
