Message from the Director of the Department
Cardiovascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis, heart failure and arrhythmias are increasing dramatically because of aging and changing lifestyles. For those cardiovascular diseases, our experts provide leading-edge treatments. We have also prepared a complete system to prevent recurrence after treatment. Additionally, we have established the best medical care system for special diseases such as adult congenital heart diseases and cardiovascular diseases that merge with cancer patients (onco-cardiology). Please contact us with confidence. We will respond to any cardiovascular disease.

Scope of Target Diseases
At the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, we provide diagnosis and care for patients with diseases related to the heart, blood vessels (large and peripheral vessels) and high blood pressure. We specialize in intractable diseases such as severe heart failure, ventricular arrhythmia, pulmonary hypertension, adult congenital heart diseases, and pacemaker infection.
- Ischemic heart disease (angina pectoris and myocardial infarction)
- Heart failure
- Valvular heart disease
- Supraventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation
- Ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation
- Bradyarrhythmia
- Brugada syndrome, Long QT syndrome
- Pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary thromboembolism
- Dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Cardiac sarcoidosis
- Adult congenital heart disease
- Pacemaker infection
- Sleep apnea syndrome
- Peripheral artery disease, Renal vascular hypertension
Features and Description of Medical Care
We provide care for patients not only with general cardiovascular diseases including hypertension and vascular diseases, but also with three main diseases in the cardiovascular area: ischemic heart disease, heart failure and arrhythmic diseases.
Additionally, to fulfill our functions as a university hospital, we actively provide care for rare diseases. For intractable irregular arrhythmic diseases, we provide optimal care to each patient from using non-pharmacological therapies with catheter ablation, an implanted defibrillator, and pacemaker and pharmacological therapies based on the occurrence mechanism. For patients with heart failure, we provide active and careful pharmacological treatment based on large-scale clinical trials conducted in recent years. Additionally, we give biventricular pacing therapy to patients with end-stage heart failure. We practice an approach to ACP and palliative care. For ischemic heart diseases, severe heart failure and critical arrhythmia, we conduct intensive treatment on emergency patients in CCU on a round-the-clock basis in cooperation with the emergency department in this hospital.
From 2019, we also provide advanced medical care such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVI) for aortic stenosis and transcatheter left atrial appendage closure for non-valvular atrial fibrillation with high bleeding risk. We provide IMPELLA and VAD for severe circulatory failure.
We have been providing outpatient care daily, Monday through Friday. Furthermore, we attempt to make arrangements to do examinations, which are available during the day, on the same day.
Revisiting outpatients must make an appointment with the outpatient clinic service. Furthermore, round-the-clock care is given to emergency patients in cooperation with the emergency department.
While cardiac catheter examination and pharmacological stress tests are conducted on inpatients, the following examinations are also conducted on an outpatient basis: electrocardiogram, exercise electrocardiogram, 24-hour electrocardiogram (Holter electrocardiogram), signal-averaged electrocardiogram, cardiac ultrasonography, cardiac nuclear medicine test (myocardial scintigram) and cardiac CT.
