Basic Idea about Medical Safety Management
Okayama University Hospital aims to provide patient-centered advanced medical care as a special-functioning hospital, and to provide safe medical care with no accident. To this end, each single staff member performs daily medical practice, devoting the utmost attention to tasks and objectives.
Nevertheless, the fact that anyone can make an error finds no particular exception in medical care. All medical workers at our hospital perform medical services for patients with great responsibility. At the same time, we think that it is important to enhance error-checking functions by individuals and systems on the premise that errors can occur. To prevent medical accidents, it is necessary to improve safety as a system, particularly addressing “prevention,” using scientific knowledge about the mechanism of error occurrence and challenges for accident prevention in fields other than the medical community as a reference. Based on that idea, we continue a safety promotion campaign: In fact, our organization as a whole continues to put effort into improving an environment that does not incur errors and developing systems that can absorb errors and prevent accidents.
Patients’ cooperation is necessary to promote safe medical care. We ask you to understand the medical care that you are receiving and participate in confirmation work, etc. with staff members to assist us in practicing correct medical care without error.
