What is the Perioperative Management Center?
The Perioperative management center (PERIO), established in 2008, efficiently provides a comfortable, safe and secure perioperative environment to patients who undergo surgery at Okayama University Hospital. PERIO consists of anesthesiologists, surgeons, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, registered dietitian, dental hygienists, dental technicians and clinical engineering technologists. When surgery is scheduled, multidisciplinary specialists start to support patients in outpatient clinic preparing for surgery both physically and mentally. The support types are, for example, exercise, nutritional guidance and dental care aimed at early recovery after surgery. We aim to achieve patient-centered perioperative management. We want our patients to aware that they must climb the mountain in front of them, named surgery, with their own two feet.
