※Our hospital is designated an official advanced treatment facility for highly specialized medical care. As such, our tertiary care referral system is structured for treatment of persons who are either seriously ill or seriously injured.
Persons experiencing comparatively mild medical problems, are urged to consult a primary care or secondary care medical facility for referral treatment. Okayama City maintains a hospital rotation system that makes available continuous medical-care services in each area of the city.
Note that even if non-emergency treatment is accepted, there is a possibility that you have to wait for many hours when doctors are busy administering emergency care.

●Please show us the following information at the reception desk:
(1)Your photo ID card (residence card or passport) 
(2)Your insurance (travel insurance, medical insurance).
We might be unable to provide you with medical care if you have neither of these.

We ask for your cooperation in order to prevent accidents involving mistaken identification of patients during examination and treatment, and to prepare statistical data in case we are asked to report on nationality or language preference.

◆For those who are covered by the public health insurance system of Japan  

◎Please note the following matters if you desire consultation at our hospital.
  1. Initial appointments can only be made via a medical facility. Patients with appointments are given priority. Patients without appointments might be unable to see the doctor or might have to wait for a longer time.
  2. A patient without a referral letter in the predetermined format must pay "Elective Treatment Fee".

  3. Please bring an interpreter, in principle, when it is difficult for the patient to communicate in Japanese. Please note that we might use a partner medical interpretation service when a patient does not bring an interpreter. We might be unable to provide you with a consultation if you do not accept that.

       English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese,
      Russian, Thai, Tagalog, and Nepali
  4. We do not support an entry visa to Japan. (Non-resident patients who want a consultation or treatment at our hospital must contact us via a medical coordinator company, in principle, for safe and reliable medical care.)

◆For those who are not coverd by the public health insurance system of Japan

Okayama University Hospital charges foreign patients who are not covered by the public health insurance system of Japan 30 yen per point of medical fee.
 (There is a possibility that your medical expenses will be high depending on your treatment.)
In addition, If you are admitted to the hospital, you MUST pay all the estimated medical expenses as a deposit BEFORE admission.  
Those who will be charged at a rate of 30 yen per point of medical fee include patients of Japanese citizens living overseas without valid Japanese public health insurance.
 

For patients who must determine the availability of examination and treatment in Japan

For overseas patients who want a consultation or treatment at our hospital, please first contact the address shown below. Overseas patients must contact us via a medical coordinator company or The National University Hospital Medical Cooperation Network , for safe and reliable medical care.
Our physicians will determine on your acceptance as a patient, comprehensively, based on your prior medical information, imaging data interpretation, expected benefits of our services, and so on.
