Scope of Target Diseases

• Oral cancer: malignant tumors in the oral region
• Oral tumor: benign tumors in the oral region
• Jaw deformity: abnormalities of the jaw resulting in malocclusion
• Temporomandibular joint diseases(TMJ): TMJ disorder, dislocation and ankylosis
• Trauma: bone fracture of the jaw, oral soft tissue injury and facial soft tissue injury
• Cyst: cysts in the jaw and oral soft tissues
• Salivary gland disease: sialolithiasis, mucocele, and salivary gland tumor
• Oral mucosal disease: leukoplakia, lichen planus, and intractable stomatitis
• Inflammation: severe infection in the oral and maxillofacial region

Features and Description of Medical Care

• Oral cancer
  We provide diagnosis and treatment for oral cancer.
  We produce a treatment policy with the aim of improving treatment outcomes through multidisciplinary treatment.
  Speech disorder, masticatory disturbance, dysphagia, and aesthetic problems after initial treatment are treated by reconstructive surgery, maxillofacial prosthesis, and therapy for dysphagia in close collaboration with the supporting team.
• We reconstruct the jawbone with a custom made titanium mesh tray and autogenous iliac cancellous bone. Then we reconstruct the occlusion using the dental implant.
• Jaw deformity
  We perform surgical correction with an orthodontist. Our department has one of the largest operation volumes in western Japan. Severe jaw deformity is treated by distraction osteogenesis, which is a method of gradual jaw extension.
• Habitual TMJ dislocation and TMJ ankylosis
  We perform for TMJ dislocation and ankylosis surgical treatment. For TMJ ankylosis, we can perform total joint replacement of TMJ. In TMJ surgery, we use navigation system for safe and accurate operation.
• Endoscope-assisted surgery of mandibular fracture
  We perform open reduction and internal fixation of a subcondylar fracture via transoral approach under endoscopic visualization.
